Experience the traditional fishing methods that have been passed down for over 400 years on Lake Mikata, and engage in a tour that touches upon the wisdom of predecessors who have sustainably inherited their practices, along with considerations for the future of natural resources. This tour takes place in the autumn and winter, when the fishing of carp and crucian carp, specialties of Lake Mikata, is particularly active.

Embark on a fisherman's boat and receive explanations about the unique fishing methods from the local fishing cooperative association. Following that, partake in an experience where you can sample the traditional fishing methods of Lake Mikata and locally sourced ingredients at a campsite along the lakeside.

Through interactions and exchanges with fishermen and locals actively involved in this area, convey the sentiments and thoughts of the locals to the participants.

【SCHEDULE】

[10:00] Gather at the parking lot of Michi-no-Eki Mikata Goko (Roadside Station Mikata Five Lakes).

[10:10] At the nature and waterfowl observation building, a guide will introduce the unique characteristics of Lake Mikata and traditional fishing methods.

[10:30]  You will sail out of Mikata Lake on a fishing boat and observe the 400-year-old fishing tradition from the lake. (Eels are caught in tube fishing from spring to fall, and 

Tataki net fishing are used to catch carp and crucian carp in the winter).

[11:30] Arrive at the pier. Enjoy local ingredients with locals and fishermen.

[12:00] Disband. After the tour, consider visiting the Fukui Prefectural Varve Museum and the Wakasa Jomon Museum to gain a deeper understanding of the area. (Optional)
