【STORY】
Kitakata City in Fukushima Prefecture is famous for producing delicious sake, thanks to its abundant natural beauty, pristine water, and high-quality rice. This special program offers a unique tour of sake breweries in this renowned sake town, exploring the roots of sake.
The tour will take you to the historic “Yamatogawa Sake Brewery,” which has been in operation since the Edo period(1603-1868). This brewery is highly popular, having won the gold medal eight consecutive times at the “Annual Japan Sake Awards,” which determines the best sake in Japan.
This time, you will have the rare opportunity to attend the “Kura-Biraki,” an annual event that marks the end of the new sake brewing season or the completion of new sake. The 10th-generation president of Yamatogawa Sake Brewery, Sato Masakazu, will personally explain the sake brewing process and ingredients.
“Kura-Biraki” is a special event held once a year to celebrate the completion of new sake and to show appreciation to customers, akin to a “sake brewery thanksgiving festival.”
This special event offers a deeper understanding of the sake brewing process and the unique characteristics of the brewery, which you can’t experience during regular tours. You can also enjoy tasting and purchasing new and limited-edition sakes, learning about their unique features while comparing them.
If you have come to Japan and want to experience something special just for that day, why not enjoy a special experience that can only be had in this place at this time of year?
